The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is Samsung's 2026 flagship — a 6.9-inch powerhouse with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 200MP camera, and the world's first built-in Privacy Display. Verdict up front: it is the most complete Android phone you can buy, though it is more refinement than revolution — and Samsung has quietly raised the price since launch.

Design & Display: meet Privacy Display

After two titanium generations, Samsung returned to aluminum — thinner (7.9mm) and lighter (214g) with a refined Ambient Camera layout. The headline act is the Privacy Display: hardware that blacks out notifications and content at an angle, killing shoulder-surfers without a screen protector. The 6.9-inch QHD+ panel hits 2600 nits and adapts from 1–120Hz.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is the fastest phone chip Samsung has shipped, and reviewers call performance fast, fluid, and reliable across gaming and Galaxy AI workloads. Seven years of security updates (to February 2033) is best-in-class.

Performance Benchmarks: S26 Ultra vs iPhone 17 Pro Max

The numbers make the fight obvious. Apple still rules single-core — the A19 Pro scores 3,894 against 3,761, about 3.5% ahead. But the S26 Ultra wins multi-core by 17.6% (11,454 vs 9,741) and posts an AnTuTu score roughly 47% higher. Against its own predecessor, it is about 52% ahead in AnTuTu.

Camera

The 200MP main moves to a brighter Æ’/1.4 aperture and the 5x periscope to Æ’/2.9 — meaningful low-light gains. Zoom and daylight shots remain superb, though rivals like Oppo and Vivo have pulled ahead in night portraits, and Samsung's processing can still over-sharpen. The 100x Space Zoom remains a mixed bag.

Battery & Charging

Charging finally jumps to 60W wired, but the 5,000mAh cell is unchanged — and rivals have moved to bigger silicon-carbon batteries. Heavy gaming and camera days will have you reaching for the charger.

Price & Availability

Announced February 25, 2026 and on sale since March 11, the S26 Ultra launched at $1,299 — but Samsung has since raised it to $1,399 for 256GB. Deal-hunters should check Samsung's Certified Re-Newed program (from $1,099) and retailer discounts, which undercut the new price significantly.

Verdict

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is the safest premium Android buy of 2026: elite display, elite chip, elite support window. But S25 Ultra owners can skip it unless the Privacy Display calls to them — and everyone should shop the discounts, not the raised sticker price.
