Brad Pitt's survival thriller Heart of the Beast has crossed the $155 million mark at the global box office, turning one of the season's most doubted releases into one of its leggiest hits. The David Ayer-directed film, dismissed by some analysts as a likely bomb after a modest $50.1 million global opening, has now reached an estimated $155.5 million worldwide — and analysts say a $175–200 million final run is in sight.

A Slow-Burn Success Story

According to box office tracker Luiz Fernando, Heart of the Beast added $9 million overseas in its fourth weekend — a drop of just 35.3% from the previous frame — bringing its international cume to $97.2 million across more than 66 markets. Combined with a $58.3 million domestic total, the Paramount release keeps defying gravity week after week.

The film opened on September 25, 2026, to $20 million domestically and $30.1 million overseas across 63 markets. Early commentary was unkind: with an $82 million production budget (excluding marketing), some estimates suggested it would need to cross $200 million worldwide to break even. Four weekends later, it has already hit breakeven territory and surpassed Anne Hathaway's Verity at the worldwide box office.

The Numbers

MetricFigure
Global total (as of Oct 19)$155.5 million
Domestic cume$58.3 million
International cume$97.2 million
Opening weekend (global)$50.1 million
Production budget$82 million
Projected final run$175–200 million

Man, Dog, and the Alaskan Wilderness

Pitt plays James Belmont, a retired Special Forces veteran and bush pilot who, after a seaplane crash, must trek through the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness with Odin, his traumatized German Shepherd combat dog (played by dogs Uber, Seeka, Ryker, and Hondo). J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe appear in key supporting roles in the 101-minute film, written by Cameron Alexander and rated PG-13 for intense survival violence.

If the film reaches the higher end of its projected run, it will surpass the $162.6 million global total of Ayer's previous hit The Beekeeper — proof, as the film's own premise suggests, that endurance beats the opening sprint.
