The Vivo X Fold6 is the foldable that finally answers the two oldest complaints about folding phones: weak cameras and small batteries. Vivo's new book-style flagship pairs a 200MP ZEISS main camera with the biggest battery ever fitted to a globally sold foldable (6,900mAh), in a frame just 4.4mm thin when open, running MediaTek's 3nm Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chip. Launched in China on June 26, 2026, globally on October 1 and in India on October 6, it costs about $2,283 (GSMArena's conversion of the Indian price). As GSMArena puts it, "on paper we really couldn't ask for much more from the X Fold6."

Displays: two flagship screens, not one plus a compromise

Foldables usually pair a great inner screen with a mediocre cover. Vivo did not. Both panels are LTPO AMOLED with adaptive 120Hz refresh rates, HDR10+, HDR Vivid and Dolby Vision, and a 5000 nits peak brightness rating. The 8.02-inch inner display (2312x2504) uses Samsung's M14 luminous material, a first for any foldable, while the 6.51-inch cover display (1120x2528) is a genuinely great phone screen in its own right.

Cameras: a genuine ZEISS flagship system

This is the headline upgrade over last year's X Fold5. The 200MP main camera uses Samsung's large 1/1.4-inch HPB sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and OIS, joined by a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto with OIS and a 50MP autofocus ultrawide, all ZEISS tuned with vivo's V3+ imaging chip. Video runs to 8K at 30fps, and the optional ZEISS Teleconverter G2 lens extends reach to a 200mm equivalent.

Battery and charging: the new foldable endurance king

The 6,900mAh silicon-carbon battery (7,000mAh in China) is the largest on any globally available foldable, per GSMArena, and 900mAh more than the X Fold5. Charging stays flagship grade: 80W wired, 40W wireless, plus reverse wired and wireless charging. In real-world testing, editorji got roughly a day and a half per charge even with gaming and social media use.

Performance, software and build

The Dimensity 9500 Super Edition is a 3nm chip tuned for large-screen foldables, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. Global models run OriginOS 7 Fold on Android 17, with Origin Workbench, Multi-Split Screen, Desktop Mode, and AI tools like AI Recorder and AI Cross-App Drag. The 4.4mm unfolded profile and IP58/IP59 rating, covering dust, immersion and high-pressure water jets, are rare achievements in a folding phone.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • 200MP ZEISS main camera with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor and OIS
  • 6,900mAh battery, the biggest on any globally sold foldable
  • Two flagship LTPO AMOLED displays, both 120Hz with 5000 nits peak brightness
  • Flagship 3nm chip with 80W wired and 40W wireless charging
  • IP58/IP59 dust and water resistance, still rare on foldables

Cons:

  • Very expensive at about $2,283 in India
  • Heavier than the X Fold5 at 228g, with a large, awkward camera island (GSMArena)
  • The switch from Qualcomm to MediaTek silicon is unproven in this segment
  • Only one 12GB/512GB configuration offered in India

Where to buy

The Vivo X Fold6 went on sale October 13, 2026 in India and earlier in October in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Plain links, no affiliate markup:

Also sold via Amazon, Flipkart and partner retail stores, per vivo's launch announcement.

Verdict

The Vivo X Fold6 is the foldable for buyers tired of compromises. It brings a true flagship camera system and true flagship battery life to a 4.4mm frame, with two genuinely great displays and durability most folding phones cannot match. The price is steep, and the MediaTek switch and single configuration are legitimate caveats. But on the two things that matter most in this segment, cameras and battery, the X Fold6 sets the new benchmark.
