Verdict: The Vivo X Fold 6 is the first foldable that shoots like a flagship camera phone and still outlasts your day. Vivo's new book-style foldable launched globally on October 1, 2026 (after a June debut in China), with a 200MP ZEISS main camera, a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto, and the biggest battery ever in a foldable: 6,900 mAh. At around $2,283 for the single 12GB + 512GB model, it is costly — but it is also the first foldable that asks for no camera compromises.

Design and displays

Vivo keeps the X Fold 6's form factor conventional — no extra-wide experiment — and it feels like a flagship, not a gadget. At 4.4mm unfolded (Prism Black) and 228g, it sits within reach of slab phones. The hinge is rated for 600,000 folds, and both 8T LTPO AMOLED panels run 1-120Hz adaptive with 5,000-nit peak brightness: daylight-usable. Protection hits IPX8/IPX9 plus IP58/IP59, with a side-mounted fingerprint reader for folded use.

Performance and software

MediaTek's 3nm Dimensity 9500 Super Edition drives the phone with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. OriginOS 7 Fold (Android 17) is productivity-first: Origin Workbench runs up to four apps in split-window multitasking, and AI Cross-App Drag moves content between apps. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and USB-C 3.2 complete a modern package — though there is no microSD slot and Vivo confirms no US release.

Cameras: the headline act

This is where the X Fold 6 becomes the best camera phone that happens to fold. The 200MP main sensor (Samsung's 1/1.4-inch HPB unit, f/1.68, OIS) is larger than anything in rival foldables, backed by a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto using Sony's LYT-602 sensor — also larger than competitors' telephoto units. Everything carries the ZEISS T* coating, Vivo's V3+ imaging chip runs the computational side, and video reaches 8K30 / 4K120 with 4K60 Dolby Vision. The Hindu BusinessLine found excellent detail and natural colors, a telephoto usable to around 8x, and strong low-light performance; Android Headlines called it probably the best camera on any foldable.

Battery: the anxiety ends here

The 6,900 mAh silicon-carbon cell is the largest ever in a foldable, over 2,500 mAh ahead of Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7, and it shows: The Hindu BusinessLine recorded 7-8 hours of screen-on time under heavy use and about a day and a half on standby. The bundled 80W charger hits 80 percent in under 45 minutes and full in about 70 minutes, with 40W wireless and reverse wireless charging available.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • 200MP main + 50MP 3x periscope — arguably the best camera on any foldable
  • 6,900 mAh battery, biggest in any foldable; 80W wired / 40W wireless charging
  • Dual 120Hz AMOLED displays with 5,000-nit peak brightness
  • Slim 4.4mm-unfolded, 228g build with IP58/IP59/IPX8/IPX9 protection
  • Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0

Cons:

  • Around $2,283 — pricier than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
  • Single 12GB + 512GB variant; no microSD expansion
  • No US release; availability limited to select markets
  • 20MP selfie cameras lag the rear setup badly

Where to buy

On sale since October 13, 2026 in Nebula Teal and Prism Black (12GB + 512GB, around $2,283), with launch offers including three months of Google AI Pro:
