The vivo V80 launches in India on October 6, 2026, at 12:00 PM IST, and it is shaping up to be the most camera-serious phone the V series has ever carried. Our verdict: a ZEISS co-engineered triple-50MP camera system, the largest battery ever in a V-series phone, and a 144Hz 1.5K OLED display — but the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip as the V70 and a tipped price jump that demands scrutiny.

Design & Display: cold-carved glass and the smoothest V-series screen

Vivo calls the V80's finish "flagship one-piece cold-carved glass" with a floating camera module, and official renders show a clean horizontal bar layout with prominent ZEISS branding. It will ship in three colors: Sunrise Anthem, Horizon Blue, and Stellar Black. The display is the smoothest ever on a V-series phone: a 6.59-inch flat OLED panel with 1.5K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, 1.07 billion colors, and a local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits. Slim 1.25mm bezels keep the front modern, and the panel dims to 1 nit at night for comfortable low-light viewing.

Camera: three 50MP ZEISS cameras, including a real night telephoto

The camera is the whole pitch. Every sensor in the V80 carries ZEISS co-engineering: a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700V main with OIS (CIPA 4.5 rated), a 50MP Sony IMX882 ZEISS Night Telephoto with 3x optical zoom, OIS and up to 100x digital zoom, an 8MP ZEISS ultra-wide, and a 50MP ZEISS Group Selfie camera with a 92-degree field of view, autofocus and 0.8x-2x free zoom for group shots. Video goes up to 4K Cinematic Video and 4K at 60fps, with cinematic LUT styles (Vibrant, Modern Movie, Pastel), 85mm and 100mm center-stage portraits with ZEISS bokeh, plus AI Creative Camera, Live Sticker Collage and the festive AI Diwali Portrait 2.0. WhatMobile's early look at leaked camera samples from the streets of Bangkok judged the output "near-flagship-level." The main caveat: the core sensors are carried over from the V70 — the upgrade story is mostly optics tuning, OIS, and software.

Performance & Benchmarks: same chip as the V70

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 — a 4nm octa-core platform — is confirmed on vivo India's official V80 parameter page. Here is the honest read: it is the same processor the V70 used. 91mobiles-tested figures for this chip show an AnTuTu score of 1,457,989 and Geekbench scores of 1,385 (single) / 4,314 (multi) — comfortably ahead of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 (1,176,492; 1,280/3,475) and roughly double the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy (739,074; 1,052/2,969) on the same test setup. Everyday tasks, OriginOS 7 multitasking and casual gaming will be smooth, but if you are upgrading from a V70 for performance alone, this is not a generational leap.

Battery & Charging: the biggest battery ever in a V-series

The 7,200mAh battery (7,015mAh rated) is the largest vivo has ever put in a V-series phone, backed by 90W FlashCharge that reaches 50% in 30 minutes in fast-charging mode. Vivo claims up to 14 hours of navigation and 39.5 hours of local video playback, plus reverse charging for topping up accessories. For a camera-first phone people carry to shoot all day, this is arguably the V80's most practical upgrade.

Price & Availability: launch October 6, price still leaked

The vivo V80 launches in India on October 6, 2026, at 12:00 PM IST, alongside the vivo S2 FE. Official pricing is not confirmed: tipster Abhishek Yadav's figures — Rs 63,000 (8GB+128GB), Rs 70,000 (8GB+256GB), Rs 80,000 (8GB+512GB) — are leaks, and a separate box leak printed an MRP of Rs 1,19,999, which is almost certainly far above the street price. Reports also suggest a 10% UPI discount and 24-month no-cost EMI at launch. For context, the V70 launched at Rs 45,999 and now sells around Rs 60,000 for 8GB+256GB on vivo's e-store — so the V80's leaked pricing is a real step up.

Where to buy

After the October 6 launch, the vivo V80 will be available through vivo's official India page, the vivo India e-store, Amazon India and Flipkart (microsites for the phone are already live on both), and offline retail stores across the country. Check the final launch-day price and bank offers before deciding, since the tipped figures above are unconfirmed.

Pros and cons

  • Pros: genuine ZEISS triple-50MP system with 3x OIS telephoto; huge 7,200mAh battery with 90W charging; bright 144Hz 1.5K OLED; Android 17 + OriginOS 7 with 6-year security updates; premium glass-and-metal build.
  • Cons: same Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip as the V70; main camera sensors reportedly unchanged from last year; tipped pricing is a steep climb over the V70; price and IP rating still unconfirmed at launch.

Verdict: the portrait phone to beat this festive season

The vivo V80 is a lifestyle flagship dressed as a mid-ranger: it trades raw performance gains for the best portrait and battery package in its lane. If your priorities are cameras, screen and endurance — and the October 6 launch price lands near the leaks with the rumored bank offers — it is a compelling Diwali-season buy. If you already own a V70, the chip and sensors are too familiar to justify upgrading.
