Vivo V80 5G review verdict: Vivo's newest V-series flagship is a content-creation machine with the series' biggest battery ever — a 7,200mAh cell, 90W charging, ZEISS-co-engineered cameras and the first OriginOS 7 / Android 17 experience — but it keeps last year's chip and mid-tier memory. Here's our full breakdown after reviewing the launch specs and first hands-on impressions.

Design & Display

Launched on October 6, 2026 at Vivo's NEXT 2026 event in India, the V80 is slim for what it packs: 7.69mm thin and 203g despite the largest battery ever in a V-series phone, with a one-piece cold-carved glass back, aluminum alloy frame and a floating camera module. It comes in Sunrise Anthem, Horizon Blue and Stellar Black.

The 6.59-inch flat AMOLED runs at 1.5K resolution (2750×1260, 459 PPI) with HDR10+, P3 wide gamut and a 5,000-nit local peak for punchy outdoor legibility. Vivo's launch materials claim a 144Hz refresh rate, calling it the "V-Series' Smoothest Display" — though sharp-eyed readers should note the detailed spec sheet on vivo.com lists 120Hz, so the exact ceiling is mildly contested.

Performance

Under the hood is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (4nm), the same chip as the V60 and V70 — so there's no generational leap in raw horsepower. It's paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage, respectable but a step behind rivals offering LPDDR5X and UFS 4.x at this price. Early reported benchmarks put it around 1,347,062 on AnTuTu and 1,070 / 3,552 (single / multi) on Geekbench, per mysmartprice — firmly mid-premium territory.

Camera

This is the V80's headline act. The ZEISS-co-engineered triple array pairs a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700V main sensor (f/1.88, OIS) with a 50MP Sony IMX882 3x optical night telephoto (OIS, up to 100x digital) and an 8MP 115° ultra-wide. Multifocal ZEISS portraits span 23–100mm focal lengths, and there's 4K60 video plus a 4K cinematic mode with three LUT styles. The front gets a rare 50MP autofocus selfie camera with 4K support — a content creator's dream.

Battery & Charging

The 7,200mAh typical cell is the biggest in V-series history, with 90W FlashCharge filling about 50% in 30 minutes, plus reverse wired charging, bypass charging (for gaming without heating the battery) and PD support. This is a genuine two-day phone, and the box includes the 90W adapter, a clear case and a pre-applied screen film.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • 7,200mAh battery with 90W charging — best endurance in the V-series
  • Serious ZEISS camera hardware: dual 50MP OIS sensors + 50MP AF selfie
  • Dual IP68 + IP69 ratings — flagship-grade durability
  • Bright 1.5K AMOLED with HDR10+ and 5,000-nit peak
  • 4 Android upgrades + 6 years of security updates; first with OriginOS 7 / Android 17
  • Slim 7.69mm build despite the huge battery; charger and case in the box

Cons

  • Same Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 as the V60/V70 — no chip upgrade
  • LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 only; 8GB max
  • Modest 8MP ultra-wide for the price
  • No microSD expansion, no 3.5mm jack, USB-C 2.0 speeds
  • Vivo's own spec sheet lists 120Hz, undercutting the 144Hz marketing claim
  • ~$650 starting price pushes into faster-silicon rival territory

Price & Availability

The Vivo V80 goes on sale October 13, 2026, with pre-orders already live. Pricing starts at around $650 for 8GB+128GB, rising to ~$723 for 256GB and ~$827 for 512GB. Launch offers include 10% instant cashback (or exchange bonus) and 100GB of complimentary Google One cloud storage. Vivo's press release confirms Amazon.in as a sale channel alongside its own store and Flipkart.

Where to buy

Verdict

The Vivo V80 is a creator-first phone that bets big on cameras and endurance while standing pat on silicon. If your priorities are a great main camera set, a battery that laughs at heavy days and long software support, it's a compelling package at ~$650. If raw performance and bleeding-edge memory matter more, similarly priced rivals with newer chips deserve a look. For most buyers, the cameras and battery win the day.
