Taylor Swift will close out the 2026 Academy Museum Gala with a headline performance, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures announced on Thursday, October 8. The sixth annual gala takes place in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

Hollywood's biggest fundraiser night

The gala is the Academy Museum's flagship annual fundraiser, supporting its exhibitions, educational programs and public screenings. This year's evening honors three cinema figures: filmmaker and composer John Carpenter (Luminary Award), two-time Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo (Vantage Award) and Oscar winner Charlize Theron (Icon Award).

"Taylor is an extraordinary talent whose work resonates around the world," said Amy Homma, director and president of the Academy Museum and Academy Collection. "We are thrilled to welcome her to this year's gala and look forward to her performance to close a wonderful evening of honoring three extraordinary filmmakers and supporting the Academy Museum's mission to celebrate and preserve cinema."

Star power behind the scenes

The 2026 gala is co-chaired by Tom Ford, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, with Rolex returning as the exclusive partner. The host committee reads like a Hollywood who's who: Jessica Alba, Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann, Adrien Brody, Jon M. Chu, Kirsten Dunst, Kate Hudson, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, Demi Moore, Rami Malek, Olivia Munn, Questlove, Teyana Taylor and more.

Last year's gala honored Penélope Cruz, Bowen Yang, Walter Salles and Bruce Springsteen — who also performed — setting a high bar for this year's musical finale.

Swift's blockbuster autumn

The announcement caps a packed few weeks for Swift. At the MTV Video Music Awards on September 27, she received the show's first-ever Artist Director Honors, earned 11 nominations and won Video of the Year for "The Fate of Ophelia," becoming the most-awarded artist in VMA history. She premiered her cinematic "Patient Zero" music video at the ceremony, made a surprise appearance on "Saturday Night Live" on October 3, and in August performed a medley of "I Knew It, I Knew You," "August" and "All Too Well" at the Grammy Museum.

Her song "I Knew It, I Knew You," written for the "Toy Story 5" soundtrack, is also gaining attention in the Oscar race for best original song ahead of the 99th Academy Awards in March 2027.

One note for fans: the Academy Museum has not announced any broadcast or livestream of the October 17 event — the gala is a private fundraiser, not a televised ceremony, and no set-list details have been revealed.

The takeaway: with cinema royalty in the honoree seats and pop's biggest star closing the night, the sixth Academy Museum Gala is shaping up as the must-attend Hollywood evening of the fall — even if most fans will have to experience it secondhand.
