Drishyam 3 has exploded at the box office. Ajay Devgn's final chapter, officially titled Drishyam: The Conclusion, released on October 2 and earned a staggering ₹62.44 crore net across India by 9 PM on opening day — surpassing Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan (₹57 crore) and setting one of the biggest openings of the year.

Record-breaking day one

The momentum started before release: advance bookings opened September 27 and delivered ₹27 crore for opening day — the fourth-highest advance for a Hindi film — with over ₹50 crore in total advance sales and 13 lakh tickets sold. Morning shows ran at 40-46% occupancy, ahead of Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2 (43.15%). Trade tracker Sacnilk estimated the day-1 net at ₹36.70 crore across 9,188 shows, while live trackers put the final figure far higher, marking one of Ajay Devgn's biggest career openings.

A different ending this time

Directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam: The Conclusion brings back Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar with Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Rajat Kapoor, plus new entrants Jaideep Ahlawat (as SP Crime Branch Rajveer Singh Tomar) and Prakash Raj. Unlike the first two films, this is not a remake of a Malayalam original — the Hindi franchise takes its own narrative direction to close Vijay's story. The film was made on a reported budget of ₹110 crore and could surpass it by day two.

Critics and audiences

Reviews are largely positive. Taran Adarsh called it "without doubt, the BEST FILM in the #Drishyam franchise" and a "sure-shot blockbuster." India TV gave it 3/5, praising Devgn's controlled performance while noting the finale "could have done more." The Gandhi Jayanti holiday gave the release a ready-made boost — and worldwide estimates suggest the film could touch ₹90 crore globally on day one.

The takeaway: Vijay Salgaonkar's final game is off to the best start of his career — and the weekend numbers will decide if this becomes a franchise record-breaker.
