Carrot Top has broken his silence nearly a month after he was hospitalized following a reported suicide attempt. In an emotional Instagram post shared on Saturday, October 17, the 61-year-old comedian thanked fans for the wave of love and support he has received, saying he is "truly overwhelmed" — and announced he will return to the Las Vegas stage on Monday, October 19.
"I'm truly overwhelmed"
"I'm truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, support, prayers, and well wishes I've received over the past couple of weeks," Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Christopher Thompson, wrote alongside a photo of himself performing onstage, according to People.
"Every message, text, and kind thought has meant more to me than you know," he continued. "While I haven't been able to respond to everyone individually, please know that I've felt your love and appreciate each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for being there for me during this time. It truly means the world to me!"
The comedian added an orange heart emoji to the post. Fans and fellow entertainers flooded the comments with support, including "Hacks" star Hannah Einbinder, who wrote "love you scott," referring to the comedian by his given name, Page Six reported.
What happened in September
It is the first time Carrot Top has spoken publicly since he was hospitalized in Las Vegas after TMZ reported he attempted to take his life on September 18. According to a police incident report reviewed by People, he was found near the pool in his backyard after calling a member of his team, distraught, and he was hospitalized in critical condition.
His representative, Jami Schlicher, told USA Today on September 21 that her client was "hospitalized and under close medical care" but "breathing on his own and continuing to improve, surrounded by his family and those closest to him." He was released from the hospital around September 26 and has since been seen attending church services with his family.
Back to the Luxor stage on October 19
The comedian closed his message with news fans have been waiting for: he will resume his self-named prop comedy show at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Monday, October 19. Fans have flocked to Carrot Top's show since 2005, making him one of the longest-tenured headliners on the Las Vegas Strip, Parade reported.

Carrot Top rose to fame in the 1990s with his unmistakable curly red hair, satirical prop comedy, and high-energy stage presence, later appearing as himself in shows including "Reno 911!," "CSI," "Family Guy," "Scrubs," and "Hacks."
A closing takeaway
The comedian's return is a welcome sight, and the support he described shows how deeply audiences connect with performers beyond the stage. His message also carries a quiet reminder: recovery is a process, and no one has to face a mental health crisis alone.
